The Busy Season Nobody Talks About... SPRING.

Written by Cody | Mar 17, 2026 12:20:16 AM

There’s something really magical about spring. It’s literally lighter, the air feels softer, and suddenly everyone emerges from winter ready to do things again.

But if you’re a busy mom or managing a household, you know the other truth: spring doesn’t gently arrive, it actually explodes onto the calendar.

Overnight your life includes: St. Patrick’s Day, spirit days, Easter baskets, spring break travel, Mother’s Day plans, summer camp registrations, graduations, baby showers, weddings, and kids sports suddenly happening every single night of the week.

Soccer, baseball, lacrosse, gymnastics… sometimes it feels like every child in America joined a team at the exact same moment.

To put it lightly, allllll the tabs are open.

Summer camp registration.
Middle school information nights.
Three different sports schedules.
A reminder about teacher appreciation week.
And the quiet realization that Easter and Mother’s Day (and your parents 50th wedding anniversary) is suddenly… very soon.

If you have elementary school kids, spring also brings a whole new category of mental tabs.

Is my fifth grader actually about to be in middle school?
When did that happen?
Why are there suddenly orientation nights and forms that look like I’m enrolling them in college?

Just the other day I was feeling pretty organized. I had a rare quiet morning, coffee in hand, confidently looking at the week ahead, work, practices, carpools, school events. Manageable.

Then I opened my email.

Five school emails. Why do schools send important emails at 10:47pm when my brain is no longer capable of decision making?
Two sports reminders.
One message about bringing snacks for the game.

Which immediately sent me into the classic spring parenting spiral:

Did I already sign up for that?
Was that this Friday or next Friday?
Wait… are we the family bringing snacks?

Cue the mom group text.

“Hey quick question… are we bringing drinks or oranges?”
Followed by 14 messages, three thumbs-up reactions, and one heroic parent who replies,
“Don’t worry, I’ll just bring extra.”

Spring is wonderful but it’s also… a lot.

If you’re feeling that seasonal overwhelm creeping in, you’re not alone. The good news is that you don’t need a massive overhaul to move through this season with a little more ease.

Here are five simple ways to make the spring swirl feel lighter without adding more to your list.

1. Put One Person in Charge of the Calendar (Even if It’s You)

Spring schedules multiply fast.

Practices, games, spirit days, sign-ups, birthday parties… it’s endless.

Choose one master calendar (digital or paper) and make it the single source of truth. The moment something comes in, it goes there.

The mental relief of not trying to remember everything is huge.

2. Create a “Drop Zone” for Spring Gear

Sports season alone can turn your house into a storage facility.

Designate one simple spot near the door for cleats, water bottles, equipment bags, and uniforms. No complicated system just a place where things land so you’re not searching for shin guards at 4:55pm. We have a different bag for each sport, things are washed and put back in that bag until the next practice or game.

3. Keep a Running “Future Stuff” List

Spring is full of things you need to remember later.

Mother’s Day gifts, teacher appreciation, summer planning, graduation cards, baby gifts.

Keep a simple running list in your phone so when you have a spare moment at the store or online, you can knock something out without starting from scratch.

4. Embrace the Good-Enough Holiday

Not every holiday needs to be a production.

A simple Easter basket still delights.
A grocery-store dessert still counts for a gathering.
The toilet didn’t turn green this year for St. Patricks day….and we survived.

Spring is packed enough, lowering the pressure can make the season far more enjoyable.

5. Protect One Small Pocket of Calm Each Week

Spring can start to feel like a nonstop relay race.

Try protecting one small reset moment each week, a family dinner with no rushing, a walk after a game, coffee outside before the day starts.

These little pauses help the whole season feel less like something you’re surviving and more like something you’re living.

Because the truth is, this stage of life while chaotic is also incredibly special.

The crowded bleachers.
The muddy cleats by the door.
The emails about yearbooks and middle school transitions.

One day the calendar won’t be this full.

So if spring feels like a whirlwind right now, give yourself a little grace. You’re not doing it wrong, you’re just living through one of the busiest, most vibrant seasons there is.

And one more gentle reminder: you don’t have to do everything yourself. If your spring list is feeling a little out of control, this is exactly the kind of season TULA was made for. Errands, organizing, meal prep, laundry… all the behind-the-scenes things that keep life running. Sometimes the power move is simply giving yourself permission to ask for help.
